Bedside manner: 5 great bedside tables
I've been tasked with finding a bedside table for friends who have recently re-decorated their master bedroom. No problem you may think? Well no... they need to be narrow which is quite a tricky one.
Despite lots of us living in smaller spaces now, a lot of bedside tables are wider than the average space available. We've taken to using stools as bedside tables which works well, when we have people round for dinner and need more chairs, we simply put the bedside lamp on the floor and Bob's your uncle!
Bedside tables can be quite a tricky thing to get right as we have so many requirements. They need to fit, they need to be a certain style, will there be space for a lamp, book etc.? And, whatever you might think, they are very necessary. My silly boyfriend found that out when he decided he didn't want a bedside table. Now he has nowhere to put his GQ, book, glass of water... what a dilemma!
With that in mind, I've pulled together my top 10 finds, ranging in style, size and cost. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what your favourite is.
Made from wood sourced from responsibly managed forests, you can feel good about your purchase if you decide on this Scandic-Style bedside table. Nice and simple, the light wood will help to brighten a potentially dark bedroom. Also not too big, with a width of 40cm (400mm), it will nicely fit in snug spaces.
RRP - £87.00
Mango wood is very much a 'thing' at the moment and I see why it should be! The colour of the wood adds a really natural feel to the room and with the addition of the brass the piece has a great contrasting look. Plus, it doesn't require any putting together and the design means storage can be cleverly put away.
RRP - £99
Never considered a 'floating' bedside table before but having seen this one, I'm happy to make sure I'm not ignoring these options going forward. This option in particular is rather lovely, and small(!), making it perfect for those who don't have much space.
RRP - £110
Shopping vintage furniture is an incredibly cool way of reducing your impact on the planet. You might not think it but you are essentially recycling high quality furniture by bringing the pieces into your home. And, to top things off, it's unlikely that anyone else will have the same item of furniture!
RRP - £185
I'm a big fan of the minimal look when it comes to furniture (although to be honest, I'm a big fan of most things), and absolutely love this industrial bedside table. Favourite elements of this bedside table? The matt finish gives the piece a much more luxurious feel than if it was patent, and those brass handles - wow!
RRP - £199
